"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." — Matthew 5:9
Our political discourse has grown increasingly polarized. As conservative Christians, we've sometimes contributed to this division by demonizing those with whom we disagree or by letting our political identity overshadow our identity in Christ.

Jesus was neither a Republican nor a Democrat. He transcended the political divisions of His day while speaking truth to both religious and political powers. As His followers, we're called to model this same ability to engage with complex issues while maintaining love for those with different views.
Being a compassionate conservative means rejecting the false choice between standing firm in our convictions and treating others with dignity. It means speaking truth with gentleness and respect, listening genuinely to those with whom we disagree, and finding common ground wherever possible.
Daily Practice: Identify someone in your life whose political views differ substantially from yours. Invite them to coffee with the sole purpose of better understanding their perspective. Ask questions, listen more than you speak, and look for shared values beneath your differences. End your time by praying silently for them.
Prayer: Prince of Peace, forgive me for times I've treated political opponents as enemies rather than neighbors. Help me to be a bridge-builder who models respectful dialogue in an age of shouting. May I represent You before I represent any political party or ideology. Amen.
